Ducks Head to MPSF Championships

Published by Oregon SID on February 25th, 2016

This Week: In the final meet of the indoor regular season, the Oregon track and field team will compete at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Feb. 26-27 in Seattle. The meet will begin at noon on Friday and resume at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Coverage: The meet will be streamed via Flotrack with a premium subscription. Live results will also be available.
Entries: This will be the last chance for athletes to position themselves for NCAA Championships qualification, so eyes will focus on the bubble where a little movement could mean a trip to Birmingham, Ala., in two weeks.

Marcus Chambers is currently at No. 15 in the 400 with a best time of 46.64 and is entered in the event this weekend looking to improve upon the mark.Travonn White and Nate Moore will look to leap into the long jump field where White is currently 13th (25-4.5) Moore sits 19th (25-2). The men’s distance medley relay will also look to get back into NCAA contention after a fast weekend around the country moved them to No. 13, with the top 12 advancing.

With Jasmine Todd and Hannah Cunliffe safely into the 60-meter field, the Ducks will look to add some help in the 200 where Deajah StevensAriana Washington and Cunliffe are No. 20, No. 21 and No. 26, respectively. Ashley Maton and Lilli Burdon set big personal bests at the Husky Classic in the mile but will need to drop a little more time to move up from their 19th and 20th positions. In the throws, Brittany Mann will look to hold on to her spot in the weight throw where she is currently 14th, while also moving up in the shot put (No. 30).

Last Year at the MPSF Championships: The Ducks have shown to be capable to run a fast DMR at the MPSF Championships, which they will need this weekend. Last year, the team of Edward Cheserek, Chambers, Johnny Gregorek and Eric Jenkins ran the second fastest time in school history while running by themselves.

Jenna Prandini set an MPSF Championship record with her win in the 60-meter finals, crossing the line in 7.19. Teammate Jasmine Todd finished second in 7.20, also under the previous meet record.

Other winners included Jeramy Elkaim in the 3,000, Lauren Crockett in the high jump, Mitch Modin in the heptathlon and Brittany Mann in the shot put.

Rankings: The Oregon women vaulted to No. 1 in the USTFCCCA computer rankings while the Men of Oregon are No. 2.
