Edward Cheserek Set to Make HistoryPublished by
Already Tied for Most NCAA Titles, Edward Cheserek is Set to Make History in His Senior SeasonBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Edward Cheserek has already had an incredible NCAA career, collecting 15 NCAA Championship wins, tying him with UTEP's Suleiman Nyambui (1979-82). He will have the chance to earn more in his senior indoor and outdoor track seasons. Ken Goe of the Oregonian recently had the opportunity to talk to Cheserek about his goals in his final season as part of a feature piece highlighting much of Cheserek's stellar junior season and his potential future after Oregon. Looking forward, he wants to do what he does best for his team: win races and score points at championships. If Cheserek has his way, could add another six championship titles, including a possibly foray into the 1,500 meters this spring. In the short term, however, Cheserek is focused the next several weekends. As the Ducks begin Friday at the MPSF Championships in Seattle, he is not entered in an individual event. Cheserek is entered in the mile Sunday at the Boston University Last Chance meet, where he is scheduled to race against several professional runners. The NCAA Indoor Championships are March 10-11 in College Station, Texas. More news |
