Track & Field Heads To Seattle For MPSF Indoor Championships

The men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Seattle, WA this Friday and Saturday for the MPSF Indoor Championships. The conference meet features schools from the Pac-10 and Big West conferences. Last season, the men finished ninth with just a handful of athletes competing, while the women placed eighth. The men head into the meet with five athletes and one relay team ranking in the top-20 in the nation this season. Leading the way is shot putter John Caulfield, who currently ranks fifth in the nation with a top mark of 63-7. Fellow thrower Boldizsar Kocsor, who heads into the meet ranked No. 1 in the conference in the weight throw, currenty holds the No. 7 mark in the nation this season (69-10.25). Distance runners Cory Primm and Austin Ramos are also favored to win this weekend as both head to Seattle as the top-ranked athlete in their respective events. Primm currently ranks 17th in the nation in the 800m with a time of 1:49.70, while Ramos ranks 12th in the country with a top 3000m time of 7:55.60 (which is also a school record). The distance medley relay team ranks 10th in the nation and third in the MPSF (9:40.72), while Dustin DeLeo ranks second in the conference and is tied for 10th in the U.S. in the pole vault (17-1).
