INDOOR TRACK & FIELD AT MPSF CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Washington State
University indoor track and field teams travel to Seattle for the
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships this Friday and
Saturday, Feb. 29 - Mar. 1, at the Dempsey Indoor Facility on the
University of Washington campus...the women's pentathlon and women's
weight throw begin Friday at noon with the final event the 4x400m
relays set for Saturday at 3 p.m...a complete MPSF Championship Meet
schedule can be found at the end of this release...results will be
posted on the WSU Athletics website, www.wsucougars.com, when available
each day. TEAMS COMPETING AT 2008 MPSF: WSU will send 27 men and 23 women
to the MPSF Championships...there are 10 schools with both men's and
women's teams competing this year: Arizona, Arizona State, California,
Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA,
Washington and Washington State. ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES: Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 35th season with the Cougar track program; 14th year as a
head coach, 13th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's
program...he is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell, and assistant coaches Jason Drake (Head Coach Cross Country), Mark Macdonald, Ellannee Richardson and Matt McGee...former WSU All-American heptathlete Diana Pickler is a volunteer assistant coach this season along with Bob Frey and Luan Weekes.
